📈 Amasra Continues to Rise in Cruise Tourism (2025 Current Data)

Karabuk Yenice: An Escape in the Heart of Nature

Yenice, one of the peaceful districts of Karabük, is home to the most spectacular natural beauties of the Western Black Sea. If you want to get away from the chaos of city life, fill your lungs with fresh air and explore every shade of green, Yenice is the destination for you. In this blog post, I will discuss in detail why you should visit Yenice, where you can visit, the distance to Amasra and Safranbolu, and the businesses in the region.

Why go to Yenice?

Yenice is a paradise for nature lovers. The biggest treasure of the district is one of the richest forest ecosystems in Turkey. Yenice Forests. These forests have been selected by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) as one of the 100 areas in Europe that need to be protected. Lush green trees, endemic plant species, waterfalls and a serene atmosphere... Yenice attracts not only with its landscapes but also with activities such as trekking, camping and nature sports. This is an ideal place to both rest your soul and experience moments full of adventure.

In addition, the calmness and natural texture of Yenice is perfect for those looking for a vacation away from the crowds. The region offers an authentic experience as it has not yet become an overly touristic place. Not to mention the friendliness of the locals and the local flavors!

Places to visit in Yenice

When you come to Yenice, there are a few special spots you should definitely visit. Here are the highlights:

  1. Yenice Forests
These forests, the trademark of Yenice, are a great area for trekking and camping. You can discover endemic plant species in the Arboretum section, and spend a peaceful day accompanied by waterfalls and birdsong. The riot of colors of the trees in autumn fascinates photography enthusiasts.
  2. Sugar Canyon
Located on the highway between Yenice and Karabük, Şeker Canyon is a popular destination for nature sports enthusiasts. Ideal for activities such as canyoning, trekking and cycling, this canyon also draws attention with its stunning views. The canyon's cool air and impressive rocks make it worth seeing.
  3. Eğriova Pond
Located close to the Yenice Forests, this artificial pond is situated on one of the highest hills of the Western Black Sea. A popular place for fishermen, the pond offers a peaceful picnic area with the natural beauties around it. It is a great option for relaxing with its silence and view.
  4. Yenice Observation Deck
Located at one of the most dominant points of the district, this terrace offers a magnificent view of Yenice City Forests. Equipped with cafes, resting areas and picnic places, this area is a perfect stop to watch both nature and the district.
  5. Çitdere Nature Reserve

Tekke Tepe Tomb

This hillock, which is an ancient island, was a prayer and wishing point in the middle of the Old Amasra cemetery. Like the "Hıdırlık" in other cities, Amasra's sanctuary has a Nakşibendi dervish lodge here, and there are cemeteries of sheikhs and dervishes around it.

The trustees and sheiks of the lodge foundation were from the Alemdaroğulları family from father to son. Hafız Mustafa, son of one of the last sheikhs, Yahya Edendi (19th century, 2nd yacht), settled in the Nakşibendi Tekke in Sultanahmet after an adventurous youth passing through the ships, and became the "Knotty Father" of Istanbulites for fifty years, in his turban, to unite the lovers, He tied knots in his belt, clothes, and wrists. The manuscript “Kemalname-i Kürümlü Baba” about the knotted father book is in the Süleymaniye Library.

This area was taken under protection by Amasra Municipality in 2015, but the historical cemetery areas around it were opened for development and surrounded by residences.

Nymph Statue

Located on the Black Sea coast in northern Turkey and In the ancient city of Amastris, known as Amasra in the excavations carried out, a water nymph in unusually good condition statue was discovered. Only the left side of the statue's nose and right hand are missing. Archaeologists estimate that the statue dates back to the 2nd century AD.

Statue, 1.53 meters (approximately 5 feet) tall and in real human size, with a rank (pilaster) depicts a nude female figure leaning on a vase placed on top of it. Her right hand is holding the dress that hangs loosely over her hips. Her hair is in a Hercules knot (aka Aphrodite knot); this hairstyle appears in depictions of Apollo in the Early Classical Period (5th century BC) and became popular in statues of Aphrodite and other deities throughout the Classical, Hellenistic, and Roman periods. In the photograph, there are traces of what may be traces of blue polychrome paint on the statue's dress, although this could also be a stain of some kind.

Amastris was an ancient Greek city important enough to be mentioned in the Iliad. Its location on the southern coast of the Black Sea and its access to abundant boxwood enabled it to flourish in trade. Part of the Kingdom of Pontus from the mid-3rd century BC, Amastris was captured by Rome in 70 BC and was a prosperous city in the Bithynia-Pontus province of the Roman Empire at the time the statue was made.

Pliny the Younger, author of the famous Natural History and nephew and heir of Pliny the Elder, who died trying to save his friends during the eruption of Vesuvius in AD 79, was appointed governor of the province of Bithynia-Pontus by Emperor Trajan in AD 100. Many of his letters survive, including a letter to the historian Tacitus in which he describes the eruption of Vesuvius that killed his uncle, and his correspondence with Trajan. Around AD 112, he wrote a letter to Trajan, specifically about Amastris:

"My dear sir, the city of Amastris is a fine and beautiful city; among its other important structures is a very long and very beautiful street. On one side of this street flows a stream which, although called a 'river', is actually only a disgusting public sewer, extremely unpleasant to the eye, and very dangerous with its foul odor. It would be beneficial for health and decency to cover it up; with your permission we will carry out this work. I, for my part, will see that there will be no shortage of money to carry out such a noble and necessary work."

Trajan's response is as follows:

"My dear Pliny, if the water flowing from the city of Amastris is harmful to the health of the people as long as it is uncovered, it is surely the most reasonable thing to do to cover it. I have no doubt that you, with your usual diligence, will see that the money for this purpose is not lacking."

In addition, Kuru stated that cleaning works will begin in Amasra Castle, touching on the importance of these works and stating that the plants in the castle cause the stones to gape and spoil the visual resources. He said that in order to solve this problem, mechanical cleaning works will begin through a company authorized by the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Museums, and then drug cleaning processes will begin.

Kuru added that these works were carried out within a 3-stage plan.

Providing information about the statue, the Department of Excavations and Research shared on its social media accounts and said, "During our Bartın, Amasra, Gymnasium excavations, a 1.53 cm high statue called Nymph, which is considered to belong to the 2nd century AD, was unearthed."

Skylife Amasra Article – 4 Seasons Must See This Beauty…

General View from Ahatlar Village

If a person knew where to draw deep lines in his life; He would engrave his first visit there, the first time he met those cities, as an indelible image in his memory.

It was an autumn night when the stars were lined up in the sky like letters in poems.

After Bartın, it was as if we had ridden on the back of a snake and descended from the mountains.

The darkness did not show the face of the sea. Then I suddenly thought I saw a ship with all its lights on.

The town looked like a long ship waiting in the harbor. When the sound of waves woke me up the next morning, I thought I was a passenger on that ship.

I know that the princess Amastris, who gave her name to Amasra and followed the routes of maritime trade; Fatih Sultan Mehmet, who landed the ships to the Golden Horn with sledges and took Istanbul; Hüseyin Çoban, who recreated the Golden Hind, the ship of the once famous sailor Drake, in his production house in Çakraz; Nezahat teacher, who hides Amasra like a baby dolphin in her wavy hair; Necdet Sakaoğlu, who pulled the town's past from the deep waters of history like a mussel collector, also saw that ship.

They saw that Amasra became a passion for them too...

Amasra has become very famous since the day I first saw her. Travel magazines, tourism supplements of newspapers, movie stills and TV series became a must. Enthusiasts of easy discoveries filled the town like a hill, just as the inner part of the castle was filled with houses and damaged its soul many years ago...

I, on the other hand, watched Amasra when the crowds had receded or from places far away from them.

In the summer, especially on weekends, the town has thousands of guests. Beaches, fish restaurants, and Çekiciler Bazaar are packed.

I loved the rains in Amasra, the dolphin flocks passing by the Rabbit Island, the lilies loaded with the spring raindrops in Boztepe...

Those lilies that the people of Amasra call sesame. Although Sakaoğlu says that this word is derived from “Sesami, Sesam or Sesa”; The people believe that the ancient name of the town, Sesamos, got its name from these wild flowers.

Starting today, the fog will descend on the houses and trees like a cotton quilt in the early hours of the morning. Lizards resting in Kuşkayası will be drawn, blackberries and mushrooms will be collected. Summer restaurants will gradually close their shutters. The little optimists of the Sailing Club will make their way to their school. Because the season of strong winds and rain reminiscent of Amastris' tears will begin. No one should be angry with them, would the Black Sea be so green if they were not?

After the autumn waves rising over the breakwater, the sound of the wings of the tired wild swans, battered by the storm, will be added to the sound of the Black Sea. They will land in Little Harbor with the snow and stay there for a long time. History buff university students passing through the Genoese Gate will draw the Genoa crests on their notebooks. Fishing boats will come back with flocks of seagulls, picking up their nets.

Then spring will come back to Amasra. The cold will break. The flowers that Zülfiye Hanım, who lives in Kaleiçi, planted in shoes, teapots and whatever she finds, will grow. The boats will be painted and overhauled.

Lovers will reach the tip of Kefaser Hill by walking from the edge of a cliff and hold hands and watch the Little Port, which stands like a green bowl, and its necklace, Kemere Bridge.

I think he should see Amasra in all four seasons. Short summer days when the sea approaches the beach like a docile child should not be enough for you. In the spring, when the Bartın-Amasra road turns into a holiday place with trees dressed in wedding dresses and is adorned with honeybees, hyacinths and lilies; in autumn, when the sun sets in the palm of Little Harbor, when she wears her blond like a wet crown on her head; And of course, go in the winter, when you will witness his wild, stubborn, rebellious face. But no matter what season you are there, you should visit Amasra street by street and love it street by street. Before returning, you should once again eat fish with salad in one of the restaurants on the shore at sunset.

Just be careful with your fingers! The flavor of the fish can get on your fingers!

  • Address: Kaleiçi, Kuledibi Sk. No:46, 74300 Amasra/Bartın
  • Telephone/Booking: Booking Link 0850 309 7450

Amasra, the pearl of the Black Sea, has always had a special place in my heart with its calmness, historical texture and natural beauties. Last summer, when I set out to explore this charming town, I chose Ruhi Palas for accommodation and it didn't take me long to realize how accurate my decision was. Here's a glimpse of the unforgettable days I spent at Amasra Ruhi Palas!

The location of Ruhi Palace is where the historical Kemere bridge and the view of the island is at its best.

Ruhi Palas, Amasra Castle on the outskirts, in the Kaleiçi neighborhood. The moment I stepped through the door, I felt like I was on a journey through history. When I reached the apartment, the view that greeted me was like a painting: Boztepe Island on one side, the ancient Kemere Bridge on the other and the blue of the Black Sea on the horizon... As I sat on the balcony and watched this view, I forgot all my tiredness with a cup of tea in my hand.

Fully equipped kitchen

One of my favorite things about Ruhi Palas was its large and spacious apartment. Two bedrooms And fully equipped with the kitchen, I felt as comfortable as if I was at home.

Room located next to the bathroom

I prepared my breakfast in the kitchen and ate it on the balcony; by the way seagulls accompany me He did. At one point I even found myself feeding them breadcrumbs - it was like being back in my childhood! Everything has been thought of in the apartment: Fresh towels, a modern bathroom, a TV and a quick booking system. The warmth of being a family-run business is felt in every detail.

Part of the landscape

As I wandered the streets of Amasra, the location of Ruhi Palas made it easy to get everywhere. I bought handmade souvenirs at the Çekiciler Bazaar, ate fish and bread on the beach and visited the Amasra Museum. But at the end of the day, it was all worth it to return to Ruhi Palas and relax in front of the magnificent view.

Especially in the afternoon, sitting on the balcony at sunset and listening to the waves gave me a chance to get away from the stress of city life.

There was also an espresso machine for the apartment.

If you are looking for a peaceful and comfortable vacation in Amasra, Ruhi Palas is just for you. At this point where history and nature meet, waking up to the sound of seagulls and breathing in the scent of the Black Sea is a priceless experience. I will choose this place again next time, because Ruhi Palas, One of the things that makes Amasra Amasra! If you want to experience this beauty, make sure to book early - because they only have one apartment with this view!

Action from Mine Workers

Detailed view from the workers' march - Workers shouting slogans and whistling - Workers arriving in front of the administrative building - General Secretary of the General Mine Workers' Union Hakkı Arslan's speech from mine workers "Do not enter the stove” action- Bartinin Amasra district of HEMA Inc.. Workers working in the mine stopped working by not entering the mine, claiming that they were not given their "double minimum wage" rights.

GMIS General Secretary Arslan: “306 mine workers working in the company are protesting with a work stoppage.” 306 workers working in a private mine in Bartın's Amasra district started a "not going to the mine" protest on the grounds that their salaries were not paid incompletely despite the improvements brought by the "omnibus law". In the morning, the workers gathered at the entrance of the mine in Tarlaağzı village and walked to the administrative building, shouting slogans.

General Secretary of the General Mine Workers Union (GMIS) Hakkı Arslan, in his statement, claimed that the "omnibus law" that came into force in September last year required that miners be paid at least two minimum wages, but the company did not comply with it. The company complied with the provision of the law in the first month. Stating that Arslan said, “However, the next month, while the workers were expecting double minimum wage again, the second minimum wage given before was also cut and no salary was given that month. ''I comply with everything the law provides' When the employer received compensation for our labor, he humiliated us in every sense and did not implement double minimum wage. "306 mine workers working in the company are protesting with a work stoppage," he said.

Arslan emphasized that the company offered them a "double minimum wage with social benefits" but it was not possible for them to accept it and said: "In both cases we filed, the court ruled that the minimum wage is a bare wage and social benefits cannot be included in this wage. We are not slaves, we will get what we deserve and we will continue our action until we get it. If the employer recognizes the law and believes that this state is a state of social law, it should start applying double minimum wage to the mine workers and give them their retroactive rights in installments if necessary.” Mine workers continue their protest at the entrance of the mine.

Tarik Demirkan, In her first novel written for children, she Bartin and Amasra While inviting them to a summer vacation full of mystery, history and adventure in its impressive geography, it takes them on a mysterious journey in our recent and distant history.

Eda and Seda, twin sisters living in Budapest, go to Bartın, where their father was born and raised, for the first time during the summer vacation. Arzu Teyze's warm hospitality, the pleasure of meeting her cousins Berk and Mutlu, and the charm of the town are like the heralds of good times. On the first evening they visit Nine, the elder family member, Zeynep Nine tells them the story of the mansion inherited from her great-grandfathers, where she spent her life. Fascinated by the story, the children are about to discover that the old mansion also has a story to tell and holds secrets dating back to the third century BC.

When the children started to look around to find something else to do and get rid of the atmosphere of the story they were listening to, Eda's voice was heard:

'Granny Zeynep, if possible, we want to sleep in that room tonight.'

Upon Eda's words, a silence descended on the room again, perhaps even deeper than before. Seda was watching what was going on, trying to predict where it would lead. Although he did not believe in such tales, the mysterious atmosphere of this mansion and what Nine Zeynep told impressed him as well. But he also knew well that he had to stand by his brother's decision. Whatever it was, it would be. They were going to spend the night in that room, which was said to be not haunted. Alone on their own! Eda spoke for both of them.
